Hyderabad, March 8, 2013. YSR Congress Party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma on Friday felicitated women who achieved distinction in various fields on the eve of the International Women’s Day.

Speaking at a programme got up for the occasion at the Party central office here, Smt. Vijayamma recalled the efforts of Dr YSR who initiated steps relentlessly for the empowerment of the women.

She said YSR worked towards achieving the goal of economic self-reliance of women and introduced several welfare schemes towards that end. “Interest-free loan scheme for women was most important of them. Most of the schemes introduced by YSR are now put on the back burner by this present Government,” she said.

“Let us move forward under the leadership of our party president Sri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” she exhorted them, adding that he has inherited the political legacy of YSR. “He will reintroduce all the welfare schemes of YSR after assuming power.”

Directing her ire at TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Congress Government, Smt. Vijayamma said there was no difference of any kind between the Naidu’s regime and the present Congress Government in subjecting people to suffering.
