Hyderabad, Jan 19, 2013: YSR Congress party on Saturday described as one-sided love affair the statement of Congress senior leader and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi that AP Congress would discuss the poll alliance with the YSR Congress party.

Addressing a media meet at the party headquarters, Party senior leader and Political Affairs Committee member Dr.M.V.Mysura Reddy said there is no need for YSRCP to have a poll alliance with a party which wouldn’t get even a three digit figure (read as 100) in the general elections.

“We will contest independently in the state,” he said, adding that Vayalar’s statement at the Congress party’s Jaipur ‘Chintan Shivir’ meet could at best be called a ‘one-sided love affair’ and YSRCP would have nothing to do with it.

When asked about party President Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement two years ago that he would support the UPA alliance, Mysura clarified Jagan meant to say that he would only support the secular parties keeping in mind the political stability of the nation. “He ruled out any sort of support to the BJP and clarified that he would only support secular parties and if necessary, he would extend support to the UPA as a last option to ensure political stability at the national level,” Mysura explained.

He also expressed doubts that there could be secret alliances between Congress and the TDP. “Let TDP introduce a no-confidence motion against the Congress Government in the state to prove it has no understanding with the Congress,” he said.
