Hyderabad, Nov 1, 2013: YSR Congress Party on Friday objected to the national flag-hoisting by the District Collectors and other officials in Telangana districts on the AP Formation Day.

Speaking to reporters after the AP Formation Day celebrations at the party office here, party spokesman Gattu Ramchandra Rao said Telangana Ministers not attending the AP Formation Day celebrations in the Telangana districts is an insult and dishonor to all Telugus.

Sri Potti Sriramulu became a martyr to fulfill the 102-year old ambition of all Telugus and Burgula Ramakrishana Rao also sacrificed his CM post for the sake of united AP, he said, observing some people have chosen to denigrate the Telugus and their self-respect.

“The word Andhra had been adopted taking a cue from the Warangal-based great poet Bammera Potana’s Andhra Bhagavatam after the AP formation. But Ministers like Jana Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy have chosen to inflict insult to all Telugus by their behavior,” he remarked.

Gattu asked both the Ministers whether they could dare to get the Collectors arrested as they are not from Telangana. “They have no right to continue as ministers,” he said.

Asserting that Telangana can be developed only if the state is united, he warned division of the state will only help revival of the feudal system. “The supporters of Jana Redy and Uttam Kumar Reddy resorting to the disruption of Smt. Vijayamma tour only smacks of their feudal mentality. Even Telangana people will also not appreciate this behavior and they are hanging their heads in shame” he fumed.

Recalling that 375 people died in Telangana after the tragic death of YSR, Gattu took objection to the vandalism of YSR statues at a few places and said YSR had earned a permanent place in the hearts of Telangana people “Just because you have destroyed a few statues of YSR, you cannot remove his memories from the hearts of the Telangana people,” he told the likes of Jana and Uttamkumar.

Questioning the credentials of Jana Reddy’s love and affection for Telangana, Gattu asked him not to target other parties for attaining supremacy over TRS in the Telangana area. “It is better you fight TRS directly for your supremacy but not with us,” he warned him.

Jagan hoists national flag

YSR Congress party chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy hoisted the national flag at the party headquarters earlier in the presence of several senior party leaders and hundreds of activists.

He also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Potti Sriramulu and Dr. YSR on the occasion of the AP Formation Day.
