Telangana welcomes Sharmila with big bang

Mahabubnagar, Nov 22, 2012: YSR Congress Party’s Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra, led by Sharmila, entered into Mahabubnagar district to a rousing reception by the people on Thursday.

Thousands of Mahabubnagar district people, who waited for hours together, greeted her with a big bang when Sharmila arrived at the Tungabhadra Bridge linking the Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts.

Sharmila, who completed her 200 km walk in Kurnool district, set her foot on Telangana soil around 3 PM to begin her 225-km Padayatra in Mahabubnagar district.

Originally, Sharmila was scheduled to enter Mahabubnagar district around 1 PM but the entry was delayed due to unscheduled stoppages during the Padayatra. Sharmila, accompanied by a battery of YSRCP leaders and tens of hundreds of activists, reached Tungabhadra Bridge in the Alampur constituency two hours late by the scheduled time.

During a span of 15 days, Sharmila will stroll through many hamlets and villages in the constituencies of Alampur, Gadwal, Maktal, Devarakadra, Mahabubnagar, Jadcherla and Shadnagar.

Beginning with Mahabubnagar district, Sharmila’s Padayatra will pass through Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts on the Telangana region and then through coastal districts of Guntur and Krishna before entering Khammam district on the Telangana soil again.  

Sharmila began her Maro Praja Prasthanam on behalf of YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Oct 18 at Idupulapaya in YSR district, entered into Kurnool district on Nov 8 after completing her Padayatra in YSR and Anantapuram districts.
