TDP jittery over Sharmila’s Yatra

The proposed 3000 km padayatra of Sharmila, sister of YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, beginning Oct 18 from Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, seems to be sending shivers down the spine of the TDP ranks.
If the instant and provocative reactions from the TDP leaders are any indication, the TDP leaders feel that the Yatra of Sharmila would overshadow that of Chandrababu Naidu and send the already tattered party into oblivion.
TDP MLA Revanth Reddy sought an explanation from Sharmila as to why her brother was jailed and why she plans to undertake the Yatra. It is preposterous on part of Revanth Reddy to make such a demand knowing full well that jailing of Jagan was a result of his party’s conspiracy with Congress.
YSRCP has already made it clear that Sharmila has decided to undertake the Yatra, called Maro Prasthanam, to highlight the failures of the Government, expose the conspiracy of Congress and TDP and bring pressure on Naidu to introduce no-confidence motion.
In another instant reaction, TDP leader Varla Ramaiah said Sharmila, who is in her 30s, is no match for Naidu who is in his 60s and her Yatra can’t overshadow his.
This knee-jerk reaction from Ramaiah confirms TDP is jittery over Sharmila’s Yatra as political pundits are of the view that the young lady’s marathon would be a super hit and attract bigger crowds all the way.
In fact, Sharmila’s Yatra is the first of its kind to be undertaken by a young lady in the country and has attracted country wide attention even before it took off.
