Khammam, April 29, 2013: Smt. Y.S. Sharmila has been advised a day’s rest by doctors as she suffered a hamstring in her left ankle at Budidampadu in Khammam district Sunday evening. As a result, she has suspended her Maro Praja Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on Monday.

She sustained the injury in a sort of stampede when she left the Budidampadu village after attending a Rachchabanda programme. As crowds surged forward uncontrollably to shake hands with her, she tried to avoid the crowd with the help of security people but some people came across her legs in the melee resulting in the injury.

Dr. C. S. Reddy of the Apollo Hospitals, who has recently conducted surgery on her left leg and has since been accompanying her during Sundays, provided her first aid along with Dr. Hari Krishna. The doctors have asked her to take rest at least for one day.

Padayatra coordinator Talasila Raghuram said she will undergo further medical tests today.
