Mahabubnagar, Nov 26, 2012: Sharmila, who is doing Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, came down heavily on the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government for not completing the irrigation projects in Telangana.

“YSR completed 75 per cent of the Kalwakurthi, Nettempadu, Bhima and Koil Sagar projects during his period but Congress Government couldn’t complete the balance works on these projects in the last three years,” Sharmila told a public meeting at Aiza in Mahabubnagar district on Sunday.

Recalling that YSR had dreamt of providing irrigation water to eight lakh acres in the drought-prone Mahabubnagar district through these projects, Sharmila said YSR thought of stopping migration of labour from the district. “But, not even a drop of water has flowed into the agricultural lands through these projects even 3 years after YSR’s death,” she lamented.

People have been complaining about lack of even drinking water let alone think of irrigation water, Sharmila said, adding that the Government had no time to think of the people’s problems.

Throughout the length and breadth of the Padayatra on the 39th day, people from various walks of life met her at various places and listed out their problems.

Several YSRCP leaders Mekapati Raja Mohana Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhara Reddy, Bhumana Karunakara Reddy, K.K.Mahendar Reddy, Bajireddy Govardhan, Vasireddy Padma, Swarna Sudharkara Reddy, Challa Ramakrishna Reddy and others accompanied Sharmila during the day’s Padayatra.
