Mahabubnagar, Nov 24, 2012: Sharmila, who is doing Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress Party chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has squarely blamed Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy for the present power crisis in the state.

Neighboring states have also been facing power scarcity but they have overcome the crisis by planning well in advance while Kiran Kumar has remained busy protecting his chair and neglected the people’s problems, Sharmila told groundnut and cotton farmers of Kalugotla village in Alampur constituency of Mahabubnagar district on Friday.

Sharmila made the comments during the course of Padayatra when the farmers complained to her that their crops have dried up due to insufficient power supply. “Whole day, we are getting power supply for four hours in installments and our crops and orchards have dried up completely,” they told her.

“We have a government which is not of any use to people”, she observed. “YSR used to have information about power projects and the gap between power supply and demand on finger tips. Today, the rulers have no idea of the presence of projects and their production capacity also.”

Referring to the frequent water theft by Karnataka farmers from Rajoli Diversion scheme (RDS), Sharmila said YSR used to take up the issue with his Karnataka counterpart and see water was not illegally diverted by Karnataka farmers. Now, the Government has abandoned the issue, she alleged.
