Sharmila creates Padayatra history
Srikakulam, July 29, 2013: Inking history, Smt. Y.S. Sharmila reached yet another milestone by completing 3000 km distance of her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra when she had reached the Dhanapuram village of Srikakulam district on the 224th day on Monday.
Smt. Sharmila, who had embarked on the walkathon on October 18 last from the YSR Samadhi at Idupulapaya in YSR District on behalf of the incarcerated YSRCP chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, became the first woman in the country to have attained such a record.
After taking off from Idupulapaya, she marched forward as thousands of people had followed and heralded her walkathon whole heartedly in each of the more than 1700 villages that spanned across 14 districts and 107 assembly constituencies covered by her.
Targeting the ruling Congress for its failure to continue the YSR welfare schemes and TDP for its reluctance to criticize the anti-people policies of the Congress Government, Smt Sharmila in most of her public speeches had driven home the point that Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy had become victim of political conspiracy by Congress and TDP.
Waking thorough the vagaries of nature and bearing the simmering heat at times, Smt. Sharmila interacted with people, mostly the poor, the aged, students and women at her innumerable Rachchabandas and impromptu road shows and assured people that their problems would be seriously looked into and solved when the YSRCP came to power.
Assuring that Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy would bring the YSR’s golden era back after assuming power, she fairly succeeded in exposing the deceptive politics and evil designs of Congress and TDP.
Smt. Sharmila took a 6-week break from Padayatra from Dec 15 following a keyhole surgery to her ligament injury she sustained earlier and resumed Padayatra on Feb 6.
The following are some of the milestones she had achieved while walking through the length and breadth of the state.
100 km at Pedakota in Anantapuram district
500 km at Konkala in Mahabubnagar district
1000 km at Kondrapolu in Nalgonda district
1500 km at Pedana in Krishna District
2000 km at Ravikampadu in WG district on May 16 on the 150th day.
2500 km at Kakarapally in Tuni assembly constituency of East Godavari District on June 23 on 188th day
