Sack Assembly Secretary

Hyderabad: Reiterating the demand to sack the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker as he does not possess the required qualification to hold the top post, YSR Congress has said that a person with pending criminal cases cannot hold such high office.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday party MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said : ‘ for the past two-and-a-half years I have moved all the avenues to establish that the incumbent is not qualified for the post but things were not taken seriously and the government tried to shield him.

I have complained to the Speaker, Chief Secretary and Governor that the incumbent Satyanarayana is not even a graduate while the post requires a Degree in Law. Yet he was promoted, appointed and retained despite being questioned.

The incumbent also has a criminal case pending against him in the Banjara Hills Police Station and such a person cannot continue in office.

When I have asked for his qualification and applied in the prescribed format under Right To Information (RTI) Act, nothing was forthcoming. It is mandatory to reply within 45 days, including the grace period, but it has been over two years and no information was given by the PIO from 2015 onwards.

It was then that I approached the Information Commission which has slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 and a meeting was convened in a hurry to which the main person did not attend.

All these point out to the fact that the Chandrababu Naidu government wanted to keep his ‘yes men’ at the helm of affairs, irrespective of their eligibility and only looks at loyalty quotient which is evident from the fact that the Secretary has walked out while the Governor was addressing the Assembly to oversee the oath taking arrangements of Chief Minister’s Nara Lokesh.

We demand that action should be taken against the Secretary immediately without pressing for any legal compulsions, he said.
