Roll back of diesel price hike demanded
Hyderabad, Sept 14, 2012: Slamming the Government for enhancing the diesel price by Rs.5 per liter and capping the subsidized supply of cooking gas to six cylinders per year, YSR Congress has demanded full roll back of the increase announced by the Centre.
In a press release issued in Hyderabad on Thursday, party honourary president Smt. Y.S.Vijayamma found fault with the Centre and said it is not good for the government to act like a commercial organization keeping profits and losses in mind.
“The Government has not taken into consideration the adverse financial implications the society will have to undergo while taking the decision,” she said.
Vijayamma observed that it is the responsibility of the Government to ensure that the public would not undergo any financial burden, especially at a time when the agricultural and industrial sectors are facing the brunt of the severe power crisis.
The increase in diesel price is tantamount to the increase of prices of various consumer products and is bound to dampen the spirits of common man. “While the prices are going up, the people’s purchasing power is not going up,” she said, warning the Congress government that it would face the wrath of the people in case the increase is not withdrawn immediately.
Vijayamma asked the state government to bear the burden of diesel and gas price increase as YSR Government did in the past to help the commoners.
