The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of YSR Congress Party will meet on Thursday to finalize the future course of action and chalk out the mass contact programme to highlight the failures of ruling Congress and main opposition TDP.

“The extended Executive Committee of the Party which met under the chairmanship of YS Vijayamma has resolved that the PAC will take the final call on the action plan to reach out to the people and to take ideals of YSR to every village,” CGC members Konatala Ramakrishna, Bajireddy Goverdhan and Bhuma Nagi Reddy told reporters in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

There were many proposals from the members to take up padayatra, ratha yatra or to revive Odarpu yatra and the meeting resolved that YSR family members will lead the mission. The final details will be worked out in the PAC meeting and it will be announced after Party President YSJagan Mohan Reddy endorses the decision, they said.

“The proposed mass contact programme will focus on people’s issues highlighting how Congress has watered down the welfare schemes of YSR and how TDP has been playing a second fiddle to it instead of questioning the ruling party” they said.

The meeting, attended by over 40 members of Central Governing Council (CGC), Central Executive Council (CEC), MPs, MLAs and MLAs, after reviewing the state of affairs in the State which is reeling under severe power crisis, farmers, students and all sections of the society expressing their dissent over the State Government, has resolved that the Party should undertake a mass contact programme

The farm produce has increased from 2 per cent to 7 per cent during YSR term and has drastically fallen after his demise and his poll promise of 7 hour free power was not kept by the Kiran Kumar Reddy government who has created an atmosphere that is not conducive to farmers, students, workers and women, they said. Pensions, fees reimbursement, healthcare, Jalayagnam and other schemes were either shelved or tapered down, members pointed out during the meeting.

The high-level meeting also condemned the nexus between Congress and TDP in targeting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. ED issuing attachment notices hours after TDP leaders meeting Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and the biased functioning of CBI, which has let go T Ranga Rao in the Emaar case and shifted his status from accused to witness, they said.

Another resolution to take the ideals of YSR to people was also passed and the modalities will be worked out in tomorrow’s PAC meeting, Konathala said. “The Government lacked foresight in tackling the power shortage issue and the state, after crop holiday, is heading for an industrial holiday,” they said.

Some of the members also suggested that the fight against the anti-people government and an insensitive opposition should be taken to Delhi while some others opined that it should be organized at district level. “However, a final decision will be taken in PAC," they added.
