, Oct 29, 2013: YSR Congress
party on Tuesday called upon the people to observe AP Formation Day on Nov 1 as
Integration Day to protest against the decision of the UPA Government to rush
through the process of bifurcation disregarding the opinions of majority
people.
Announcing the protest programme at a press
meet here, YSRCP senior leader and political affairs committee member Dr. M.V.
Mysura Reddy asked people to adopt resolutions in favour of Samaikya Andhra at
Grama Sabha (village meetings) on the state formation day and send them to PM
Manhoman Singh through emails.
“On the same day, similar to Ravana
Samharam, people should burn the effigies of those responsible for the division
of the state, besides forming human chains in urban areas. I appeal to women to
participate in large numbers in the event,” Mysura asked people.
He said the GoM on bifurcation is meeting on
Nov 7 to consider the reports submitted by officials to go ahead with the
process of division by giving up the traditions and practices to be adopted at
times of bifurcation.
As a protest against the GoM meeting, people
should resort to road blockade for 48 hours on Nov 6 and 7. “All people who are
interested in keeping the state and the country united should participate in
the protest programme and express their anger at the undemocratic decision of
the Congress and the Centre,” Mysura said.
“The
division process should begin with the consent of the assembly as per the
tradition and the announcement made by Union Minister Chidambaram on Dec 9,
2009. But the bifurcation process is being done in the most autocratic manner,”
he observed.
Mysura
Reddy charged CM Kiran Kumar Reddy with acting at the behest of Sonia Gandhi on
the issue. “He is only hoodwinking the people by posing as an integrationist.”
