NWP held like kitty party

Hyderabad, Feb 13: The National Women’s Parliament (NWP) has ended with no constructive outcome but for the gagging the voice of dissent and using the event for self promotion and keeping at bay any form of opposition.

‘The sanctity of the grand event has taken a beating as it ended as a kitty party with no positive or constructive outcome but for the fact that our MLA RK Roja was targeted with a vindictive approach and the Government has shown how intolerant it is towards criticism and dissent,’ party leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

The centre stage was taken by entrepreneurs and not a single known face that has been in the fight for women rights was visible throughout the Conference which was held with people’s money. The event was used and will be used for self promotion and to eke out political mileage by Chandrababu Naidu keeping aside the interests of the people.

In a parliamentary democracy the voice of the opposition and dissent should be allowed as the government has a platform and the opportunity to reply and give its version. But TDP government has chosen the repressive method and did not allow our MLA to venue and was taken away from the airport in a police van to various places before dropping her in the city, he said.

Not a single DWACRA member was allowed to speak about the breach of loan waiver promise, and with the apprehension that RK Roja would create trouble she was stopped at the airport. This is how Chandrababu Naidu and Chairman of the Conference Kodela Siva Prasada Rao had redefined democracy.

The speaker tried to dub us a spoilers but it is they who had spoiled the spirit of the event by not allowing invitees to attend the Conference and filled it up with people who do not know the realities of the state or who are sycophants, he said.

Chandrababu Naidu has brought in foreign culture of making one day compulsory to worship mother but Indian ethos and culture says that mother is like Goddess. Smitten by foreign bug, Chandrababu Naidu has been trying to bring in Mothers’ Day in to our calendar, he said.
