Nalgonda, Feb 18, 2013: Questioning TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu over his silence as CM when the Karnataka Government increased the height of Almatty and Narayanpur dams during his regime, Smt. Y. S. Sharmila heckled at Naidu’s proposal to stage Dharna for Krishna waters.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting at Miryalaguda during her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on 69th day on Sunday, Sharmila said despite Dr YSR’s demands to take steps to prevent Karnataka from increasing the height of the dams, Naidu kept silent saying that agricultural was waste.

YSR warned Naidu that the latter would remain a betrayer of Telugu people in history if he didn’t take any steps in this regard, Sharmila said, adding that it was ridiculous on part of Naidu to come forward to stage dharna for Krishna water.

“Why didn’t you take steps when our water was illegally being stolen by upstream states? Were you in a deep slumber then?” she questioned the former CM.

Smt. Sharmila said the farmers under the ayacut of Nagarjuna Sagar dam gave up agriculture during his regime as he neglected agriculture considering it a wasteful activity.

Lashing out at Naidu’s hypocritical stand on agriculture, Smt. Sharmila said the former chief minister has been protecting the anti-people Congress Government as part of the conspiracy against YSR Congress party chief Sri. Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
