Naidu is embodiment of lies: YSRCP

The ongoing padayatra of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu is a farce as he has been telling blatant lies for political gains, YSRCP spokesperson Ambati Rambabu has said.

“What he has been telling is a bundle of lies and has been giving contradictory statements. He has no clarity whether he intends to give free power or he is against it. His stand on agriculture is also dubious,” he told reporters in Hyderabad on Monday.

He had been telling people that LPG cylinder during his term as chief minister was only Rs 115 and has gone up to Rs 440. This is a white lie. When TDP came to power with NTR at the helm in 1994, the cost was Rs 94 per cylinder and when Naidu rejected by the people in 2004 it was Rs 305, he said.

“It was YSR who retained the price of Rs 305 for his full term of 5 years and 4 months until his death and also gave subsidy when the Center has increased the price. Naidu on the contrary had increased the price manifold from Rs 115 to 305,” he said.

Naidu in course of his padayatra has not given clarity on the free power as he had been very harsh on farmers during his tenure and now is singing a different tune as TDP had tasted a humiliating defeat at the hands of what he now calls a fledgling Congress Party (YSR Congress, he said.

“It was YSR who has waived farmers’ loans and power dues which accumulated in TDP regime as Chandrababu Naidu termed agriculture as a waste,” he said.

The TDP leader has also amended his path in the ongoing padayatra and is speaking of pensions to physically challenged persons. It was Rs 75 while Naidu was chief minister and it was increased by YSR to Rs 200 and Rs 500, he said.

After the by-poll debacle, the TDP leader has been trying to emulate YSR without giving a proper reply to all his adverse remarks on agriculture, farmers, power charges and other anti-people decisions he had taken. With such a past, people cannot be fooled for his political gains, he said.

When asked why the Party meetings were postponed to October 10, he said, the Party Honorary President YS Vijayamma had an appointment with President Pranab Mukherjee. “Our Party supported his candidature and it is courtesy to call on him after the elections. We waited this long expecting bail to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. After Supreme Court rejected the bail, YS Vijayamma called on him,” he said.
