Mockery of democracy by Cong, TDP

Hyderabad, Dec 16, 2013: Asserting that both Congress and TDP had made a mockery of democracy by tabling the draft Bill in the Assembly without taking up the issue in the BAC and without giving notice on it, YSR Congress has said, the true colours of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu have come in full glare of the nation.

“Kiran Kumar Reddy, who claims to be the champion of Seemandhra cause, had ditched them badly by abstaining from the House and allowing his deputy to move the Bill while the TDP leader flipped on either side with his party members displaying contrasting placards, “ Party MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

We have been time and again vociferously demanded the Chief Minister to convene the Assembly and pass a resolution against the division of the State but Kiran Kumar Reddy stood loyal to the durbar and followed the script provided to him.

His absenteeism was deliberate and has allowed the Bill to enter the Assembly and his credentials of being an integrationist has been blown to smithereens.  His real intentions and loyalties have come to fore as he allowed his Deputy, who is for a separate State to take over the floor.

The Speaker, Nadendla Monohar played his part with equal deceit and he helped the Government to bring the Bill for discussion throwing all procedures and parliamentary practices to winds.

Neither the BAC was convened nor a notice was given to the members but the Bill has landed in the Assembly and the Government in all its wisdom says the discussion has begun in the House. This is not acceptable, he said.

“We are for a united State and had the Government conceded to our demand of adopting a resolution against the division, the country would have known about the injustice being meted out to Seemandhra region. But the government has deliberately missed out the golden

opportunity as Kiran Kumar Reddy was helping the Centre to expedite the division process though he has been posing as an integrationist.

Chandrababu Naidu has been reduced to a joker in the pack as his own MLAs have been raising two contrasting slogans. It is now in the open that Kiran Kumar Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu are for division of the State and not integrationists.

“We also condemn the highhandedness of police against the Seemandhra employees of Secretariat who were in their own right protesting against the tabling of the Bill.

It is the Kiran Kumar Reddy government that has misused its police force to throttle the voice of Seemandhra employees and we condemn this act vehemently, he added
