Guntur, Aug 19, 2013: Asking the Congress leadership and the Centre to keep quiet leaving the state united and untouched if it cannot do equal justice to all regions, YSR Congress honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma on Monday launched her indefinite fast in Guntur.
Addressing the sea of humanity that witnessed the launching of her indefinite fast at the sprawling old bus stand area, Smt. Vijayamma asked the people not to dishonour or attack the visiting Telangana leaders but carry out the agitation peacefully.
She squarely accused the Congress of dividing the Andhra Pradesh state for just seats and votes. “The Congress wants to do justice to one area in the state for gaining political mileage and seats while rendering injustice to the other area,” she said.
Heart burnt Seema Andhra is boiling with agitation after the Congress announced its unilateral and autocratic decision of dividing the state without thinking of solutions to the issues of employment, sharing of river waters, funds and natural resources, she said, expressing her agony over the present disturbed situation in the area.
Revealing that she has been taking up the indefinite fast on behalf of YSR Congress party chief Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, she said the Congress leadership took the division decision aided by the blank cheque given by the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu in support of Telangana formation.
“Jagan Mohan Reddy wanted to launch the Deeksha opposing the Congress decision but due to jail manual it is not possible. Hence my decision to launch the Deeksha on his behalf opposing the Congress autocratic decision,” she said.
Smt. Vijayamma said that YSR loved all regions of the state equally and took steps for the equal development of all the areas without any preconceived notions or prejudices. YSR ensured that fruits of welfare schemes and programmes had reached all sections people and in all regions.
Observing that from the very beginning, YSR Congress party has been asking the Congress and the Centre to solve the issue of Telangana by coming out with a solution acceptable to all and discuss the same with all stake holders concerned before taking a final decision.
“We said this in the all-party meet in Delhi last year but the Congress party went ahead with its dictatorial approach on the issue. This was the reason for our MLAs quitting. Later, I also quit along with Jagan Mohan Reddy protesting the Congress dictatorial approach,” she said adding Congress leadership took the unilateral decision on Telangana only because of the letter written by Chandrababu Naidu in favour of Telangana.
She said besides sharing of river waters, natural resources and funds, there are several other issues such as the status of Hyderabad city and the issue of public sector undertakings. “ Most of the state revenue comes from Hyderabad city and the issue of sharing the revenue has not been taken up. All Government public sector undertakings are situated in and around Hyderabad and several other hundreds of ancillary industries also came up there. What about them? How will they be distributed?’ she asked, making it clear to the Centre and the Congress to take up division only after solving the issues first.
