March 4, 2013: Smt. Y. S. Sharmila said Congress Government’s inability to preassess the power situation in the state has led to unprecedented power crisis and suffering of people.

Unlike YSR, Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress Government has failed to assess the power supply and demand position in advance, she told a Rachchabanda gathering at Bhagyanagar in Sattenapally constituency of Guntur district on Sunday.

Smt. Sharmila, who had shortened her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra to 5 km due to renewed pain in her recently operated leg, interacted with locals at the Rachchabanda programme.

“Farmers are already in a debt trap due to the Government’s incoherent policies and drought conditions. Government’s inability to handle the power crisis has added to their woes,” Smt. Sharmila told the gathering, adding that CM Kiran Kumar has no idea of reservoir levels and storage of water.

She said majority states have been facing the power problem but many of them are taking preventive steps to ease the situation and lesson the power woes by buying power from neighboring states.

“YSR used to have the details of power generation on finger tips and ensured uninterrupted power supply by initiating corrective measures.  But Kiran Kumar is always busy trying to protect his chair,” she said and added that the Government is well protected by TDP president Chandrababu Naidu.
