Jagan's indefinite fast continues in jail

Hyderabad, Aug 27, 2013: YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's  indefinite fast demanding to maintain status quo if the Centre cannot do justice to all regions has entered the third day today. 

It is the right of every citizen to undertake any agitation programme unlike what is being projected by a section of media, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here. "Gandhiji went on indefinite fast in jail on many occasions. The media that is supportive of the Seemandhra agitation too trying to spread falsehood about the fast in jail is unfortunate," he said.

"YS Jagan Mohan Reddy began his fast Sunday morning and I  appeal to the cadre to join him in expressing protest against the Centre's decision which is unilateral and not in the interests of both the regions," Rambabu told the party leaders and activists.

While Chandrababu Naidu who has been amidst the people could not express concern over the injustice meted out to one region and flatly refused to withdraw the letter he has given agreeing to the division of the state, Jagan despite in custody, is always with the people and their interests are high on his mind.

Though in custody for the past 15 months, he has become the voice of the people and has taken up the issue which is affecting a multitude of people, he said.

That is the reason why he has undertaken the fast in the jail is that he wanted to react to the situation timely unlike Congress and TDP MPs who are enacting drama by trying to stall the Parliament instead of convincing their leadership that has given nod to the divisiion.

The entire family of YSR is with the people and takes up people's issues whenever there is a need. While YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken up many issues, YS Vijayamma undertook an indefinite fast and Shamila has recently completed a padayatra and is now planning for a Bus Yatra.

"I appeal to the cadre not to believe the false propaganda of vested interests and express solidarity with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy by taking up fasts and holding dharnas and protest marches," he said.
