YSR Congress party honourary president Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma said that the late YSR had recognized that poverty ruled roost in Telangana similar to Rayalaseema and given importance to the Telangana area in all developmental projects including Jalayagnam.

Addressing a huge public meeting at Bhuvanagiri on Monday, Vijayamma said YSR had struggled to develop the Telangana area and improve the lot of Telangana people.

“Even my son and party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is also not against Telangana and its people. He made his stand clear in the party’s first plenary. Jagan wanted the issue to be solved without affecting the sentiments of the people of any area,” Vijayamma said, adding that it was the responsibility of the Centre to solve the issue under the Article 3 of the Constitution,” Vijayamma said and remarked that they are not the people to give Telangana.

Asking the Centre to find a quick solution to the Telangana issue, she said the UPA Government must take responsibility for the death of people over Telangana. We have not put up candidates in the by-elections respecting the sentiments of Telangana people in the six constituencies where the MLAs have resigned on the Telangana issue, she claimed, adding that YSRCP is not a political party of selfish people and opportunism.

Vijayamma said that the most important health scheme Arogya Sri has been diluted by the present Government with Government removing most of the diseases from the Arogya Sri List. During the YSR regime, 24 lakh farmers were benefitted with the free power supply scheme introduced by YSR with nearly 14 lakh farmers hailing from Telangana area.

“Out of the Rs.51 000 Cr spent for Jalayagnam, Rs.20, 000 Cr was allotted for projects in the Telangana area,” she said, asserting that YSR never neglected the Telangana area.
