Hyderabad, June 9, 2014: Objecting to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to constitute a committee on farm loan waiver, YSR Congress Party president Sri Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked him to implement his election promise on loan waiver to farmers without any delay.

In an open letter to Naidu, Jagan Mohan Reddy reminded him of his pre-election call to people not to repay all agricultural loans including crop and gold loans with a promise to announce loan waiver immediately after coming to power.

“People believed your promise and voted your party to power. Now, at a time when farmers are in distress and waiting for waiver of farm loans as per your promise, you have delayed your swearing in though you could have done it on June 2 itself. I appeal to you to implement your promise immediately,” he asked him.

Pointing out that Naidu never talked of committees and 45 days period to implement his poll promise on loan waiver, Jagan Mohan Reddy said farmers are not in a position to apply for fresh loans. “Will not people think that you are enacting a drama over loan waiver?” he asked in his letter.

Reacting to Naidu’s decision to implement his promise on social pensions to widows, the aged, handloom weavers, toddy-tappers and the handicapped in two instalments in two instalments, Jagan Mohan Reddy reminded him that it should be implemented at once by you on assuming office.

“You promised to hike the monthly pension to Rs. 1500 but now you say you will do it in two instalments with first instalment being paid in Oct. That too, you have not come out openly on how much you are going to pay. I request you to implement the hiked pensions immediately for the benefit of the needy,” he demanded.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also asked him to keep his promise of providing employment to a person from each family.” You promised to provide jobs to a person from each family in the state in the absence of which you said monthly employment allowance of Rs.2000 would be paid. I request you to implement this promise also without any delay,” he requested in his letter.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also faulted Naidu’s decision to eliminate all belt shops saying there is no meaning in issuing such orders as all belt ships are illegal. “You should strive to remove all such illegal belt shops earnestly and sincerely,” he reminded Naidu.
