Granite industry will have its shining back

Khammam, April 26, 2013: Smt. Y. S. Sharmila, who has been undertaking Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress chief Sri Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had assured the people that the granite industry in the Khammam district would get back its shine soon.

“Let YSRCP attain power and Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy become the CM, the granite industry will get its YSR period’s shine back,” she told the representatives of granite industrialists’ association and granite workers during a Rachchabanda interaction at Mudigonda in Khammam district on Thursday.

The representatives submitted a memorandum to Smt. Sharmila listing out their problems and saying that the granite industry has been on the verge of closer with longer power cuts. “Because of the power cuts, our crushers have no work and the workers are on the roads,” they complained”.

“We used to get subsidy on royalty and also on power bills during the YSR period. Now, let alone think of getting subsidies, we are not getting even continuous power supply,” they told her.

She assured them that YSRCP, after coming to power, will try to solve their problems on a priority basis “Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy will take all possible steps to keep the industry running and to ensure that workers will get back their jobs,” Smt. Sharmila told them, adding the granite industry in AP will be more productive and shining than its counterpart in Gujarat.

Farmers meet Sharmila

Groundnut and maize farmers had also met Smt. Sharmila and listed out their problems saying the longer power cuts had made their crops go dry and left them in the lurch.

Sharmila requested them to be confident of their future and wait for some days for the good days to come.
