Mahabubnagar, Dec 6, 2012: During the course of her Maro Praja Prasthanam Padayatra in Mahabubnagar district on Thursday, Smt. Sharmila suggested to the cotton farmers to question the officials and rulers on the issue of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.

Smt. Sharmila, who has been undertaking Padayatra on behalf of YSR Congress Party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, gave this suggestion to the cotton farmers who met her and complained on the low MSP for cotton at a Rachchabanda programme at Gangapur in Mahabubnagar district.

The cotton farmers told her that their financial problems have multiplied due to lack of reasonable MSP for their produce.

She reminded them that Dr. YSR visited the Gangapur village as the Leader of the Opposition and handed over financial assistance to the families of three cotton farmers who committed suicide due to financial problems when Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister.

Smt. Sharmila said the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government has totally failed to come to the rescue of farmers. “You question the officials and rulers if they don’t respond to your demand of MSP,” she told the cotton farmers.

During the day’s Padayatra schedule, YSR Congress Party senior leader Konatala Rama Krishna and others accompanied Smt. Sharmila. Aged men and women, who came in droves, followed the Padayatra and competed with each other to shake hands with her.
