Cong terrified of Jagan’s popularity: Vijayamma
YSR Congress party honourary president Smt. Y.S. Vijayamma said the Congress Government, which has been hand in glove with the TDP, jailed her son and party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as it feared that Jagan might influence the people against the Congress with his popularity and not the witnesses in his case.
“Even after filing cases against him, Jagan had been with you for ten months agitating on various issues but CBI arrested him in the name of investigation ahead of by-elections just for the fear that he may influence you against the Congress,” she told people at a public meeting at Sri Krishna Devaraya University as part of Sharmila’s Maro Praja Prasthanam on Sunday.
“Their actual fear was not that he might influence witnesses in the cases filed against him but they had worried he might influence you against the Government,” she observed.
She reiterated the party’s stand of supporting a no- confidence motion against the Congress Government and challenged the TDP president Chandrababu Naidu to introduce it in the assembly. Vijayamma said Naidu has the capacity to topple the anti-people Kiran Kumar Reddy Government but has instead chosen to conduct Padayatra only to protect it.
“The Government has been taking anti-people decisions but Naidu is not doing anything to throw it away,” Vijayamma said, adding this only shows Naidu has been in cahoots with the Congress Government.
Vijayamma said the poor and middle class people are being burdened with more and more taxes daily and the growing power tariff and RTC bus charges. “Why is he hesitating to pull down the rug from under the feet of the Government despite his having a capacity to do it?” she questioned.
