Cong, TDP have political agenda behind Sub Plan

Hyderabad, December 3: The ruling Congress and main opposition TDP have been politicising the dalit and tribal issue and the high drama enacted by the two parties in the special assembly session convened to pass the SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill 2012 shows that their concern was more on political gains than on the welfare of the downtrodden classes, YSR Congress has said.

“If the TDP was that serious about the categorisation issue, it has shown no floor coordination and did not take other opposition parties into confidence. It didn't issue a whip to its MLAs resulting in only a quarter of its strength being present in the House during voting,” the party leaders Golla Babu Rao, Srinivasulu, Mareppa and N Surya Prakash told reporters here on Monday.

The Chief Minister also played his part well in the high voltage drama by announcing the Supreme Court verdict after the counting process was complete. The categorisation issue was raised by TDP after having a clear understanding with the ruling party, they said.

The divisive politics played by both the parties is aimed at electoral gains, but dalits and tribals have benefitted most with the YSR welfare schemes and our Party enjoys their full support, they said adding that the Nodal Agencies brought in by YSR have functioned very well.

While reiterating the Party Honorary President YS Vijayamma’s demand to order a probe by a sitting Judge on the functioning of YSR’s government, they said the Congress Government has paid no heed to the recommendations of the Planning Commission and other central agencies while drafting the Bills.

They took strong objection to the remarks of Revanth Reddy who was pitch-forked to pass such uncharitable words by TDP and the ruling party as well.

We have serious doubts about the Government’s sincerity in implementation of the Bill as the exercise in entirety seems to be an exercise to gain political mileage and to score a point. However, the dalits and tribals are strongly behind YSRCP with the fees reimbursement, aarogyasri, pavala vaddi and other schemes sinking well in their hearts.

There was a vicious propaganda to project other parties as being against Madiga community by bringing in the categorisation issue, but it was during YSR term that the resolution on the division of A, B, C, D was passed in the House on two occasions, they said.

Land distribution to SCs and STs was at its best during YSR term and they are not in a position to believe Chandrababu Naidu and his repeated lies, they said.

We welcome the Government decision of increasing mess charges in welfare hostels, they said
