On the fourth day of the 5-day monsoon session of the assembly today, members failed to transact any worthwhile business or dogging public issues but made use of the session to pay condolences and tributes to the veteran freedom fighter Konda Lakshman Bapuji who passed away this morning.

The session ended with the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy assuring that the Government will take steps to construct a memorial for Bapuji. After Speaker Nadendla Manohar read out a condolence message on behalf of the Government, the House observed 2 minutes' silence as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

Manohar adjourned the House till tomorrow after Kiran Kumar Reddy’s assurance on constructing a memorial for Bapuji.

Members of various parties spoke briefly about the Gandhian nature of the departed leader and his commitment to the Telangana cause.

YSR Congress party honourary president and MLA Smt. Y. S. Vijayamma said in her speech that Konda Lakshman Bapuji was a committed politician and worked all his life for the welfare of the Telangana people.

House adjourned twice

Earlier, Manohar adjourned the House twice following the unruly scenes created by TRS members who demanded the introduction of a resolution on Telangana.

As soon as the House assembled in the morning, TRS members have trooped into the Speaker’s podium raising slogans in favour of Telangana and demanding Telangana resolution. Unable to conduct the proceedings, Manohar has adjourned the House by one hour.

He adjourned it for the second time when it had reassembled after one hour following the continuation of the pandemonium by the TRS members.
