Hyderabad, Nov 6, 2013: The 2-day highway blockade programme, for which a call was given by the YSRCP protesting against the bifurcation of the state, began across the state this morning.

Announcing this at a press meet, party spokeswoman Roja said people have voluntarily come forward to participate in the programme expressing their opposition to the bifurcation of the state.

YSRCP leaders and activists came on to the national highways in several districts and blocked the roads bringing the traffic to a standstill since morning. Police arrested Ambati Rambabu at Piduguralla and Gowtham Reddy at Vijayawada along with hundreds of party activists.

The highway blockade programme will continue tomorrow also.

Roja came down heavily on TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and CM Kiran Kumar Reddy saying both of them are enacting dramas over the issue. “Respecting the opinions of Seemandhra people, Naidu should submit a letter to the Centre in support of Samaikyandhra,” she demanded.
