YSRCP slams TDP’s hypocrisy on spurious liquor scam

Machilipatnam, Oct 10: Former Minister Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) strongly countered the criticism of TDP leaders over the spurious liquor racket, accusing Chandrababu Naidu and his party of hypocrisy, double standards, and shielding hardened criminals.
Nani said that blinded by greed, the TDP father–son duo had committed countless wrongs, while the Excise Department itself was shocked by the scale of fake liquor manufacturing. Licensed distilleries, he noted, are now facing illegal competition from units like Mulakalacheruvu, while earlier seizures in Amalapuram, Parawada of Anakapalli, and Nellore reveal the racket’s spread. Popular brands are being counterfeited, with franchises caught in Eluru, Repalle, and Amalapuram all linked to the Mulakalacheruvu hub, from where liquor was pushed to Ibrahimpatnam. The racket, he said, came to light only due to internal quarrels among TDP leaders over profit sharing.
He questioned why ministers from districts where fake liquor was seized have remained silent, why the Prohibition & Excise Minister has not reacted, and why Lokesh, who posts endlessly on Twitter, is now quiet. Even Chandrababu, who rushes to microphones for trivial issues, has not spoken. “All of them are behaving like caught thieves, trying to water down the cases instead of probing deeply. In social media cases, YSRCP leaders’ phones are seized, but in fake liquor cases, have the phones of those arrested in Repalle and Amalapuram been taken? Has anyone investigated who the real boss is?” he asked.
Ridiculing the Excise Minister’s talk of liquor factories in Africa, Nani condemned Andhra Jyothy and Eenadu for branding Reddys as liquor mafia. “If a Reddy does it, he is a criminal, but if a Kamma does it, he is respectable? If Reddys are so bad, why keep them in your own party instead of sending them to YS Jagan?” he asked.
Turning to Jayachandra Reddy, Nani reminded that TDP inducted him in its “Jaya Ho BC Sabha” despite his election affidavit admitting ownership of four liquor factories in Africa. On Katta Surendra Naidu, he recalled the 2002 murder conviction and life sentence upheld by the High Court, yet Chandrababu secured him a pardon.
Nani also questioned why TDP gave tickets to so-called “YSRCP coverts,” rejecting seniors like Shankar Yadav while rewarding Jayachandra Reddy. Concluding, he said the people of Andhra Pradesh are counting Chandrababu’s sins and will surely teach him a fitting lesson. “You cannot hide liquor crimes or criminal histories by blaming YS Jagan. The truth is catching up with you.”
