Thurakapalem deaths are government’s failure: YSRCP demands action

Guntur, October 18: YSRCP leaders have blamed the TDP-led coalition government’s negligence for the 45 deaths in Thurakapalem village, describing them as “government killings.”

Led by Ballasani Kiran, the YSRCP Patthipadu in-charge, along with former MLAs Mondithoka Jagan Mohan Rao, Dr. Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy, and Gajjala Sudheer Bhargav Reddy, they met the Guntur District Collector and later addressed the media.

The leaders said the government is hiding the real cause, Melioidosis infection caused by contaminated water, fearing exposure of its failure. They alleged that polluted quarry water was supplied to SC and BC colonies, leading to mass deaths. Jagan Mohan Rao said the government secretly paid compensation to 29 victims’ families to cover up its guilt.

The YSRCP demanded that the government send infection specialists, supply safe drinking water, set up a testing lab in Guntur, and provide free medical care to all affected villagers.
