Stop using God for dirty politics

Tadepalli, Feb 5: Former minister Perni Nani criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan of continuing “cheap politics in the name of God” and misleading devotees over the Tirumala laddu issue. He questioned how long they would spread falsehoods and what the coalition government is really trying to tell people. He said Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav shows more interest in allegations than in his own finance portfolio and asked on what basis he speaks about “chemical-mixed ghee.” Nani argued that buying ghee at a lower price does not automatically mean adulteration and recalled that Harsh Fresh Dairy entered during Chandrababu’s earlier tenure and was approved after inspection, with ghee procured at Rs. 291 per kg. He challenged TDP to reveal Heritage ghee prices during their rule.
He criticized Pawan Kalyan for making reckless religious statements and asked how many times he had changed faiths, adding that leaders who lack fear or devotion toward God are lecturing others on dharma. He raised questions about temple incidents and vandalism during TDP rule, claiming several temples were damaged under Chandrababu rule in 2014 and 2024. On Ayodhya laddus, he clarified they were prepared using ghee donated by board members, not TTD stock. He criticised Chandrababu’s hypocrisy in religious practice and said personal attacks on YS Jagan stem from political insecurity.
Nani stressed that the CBI probe ordered under Supreme Court directions did not state that animal fat was present in laddus and did not name YS Jagan or Y.V. Subba Reddy. He said this “shocked” the ruling group, leading to talk of new commissions. He questioned why EO Shyamala Rao, brought by Chandrababu, never earlier confirmed animal fat and had only spoken of rejecting four substandard tankers. He stated that those tankers were later rerouted with changed invoices and used. He urged leaders not to damage Lord Venkateswara’s sanctity for politics and said YSRCP also wants the SIT report fully public. He concluded that people no longer trust Chandrababu and Pawan, that faith is being exploited for political survival, and that ultimately God will judge those misusing religion for power.
