*Rising crimes, Ghee tender scandal and Heritage–Indapur link: Govt dodging accountability*

Tadepalli, Feb 17: MLA T. Chandrasekhar stated that atrocities against women and children are increasing in the state while the government remains indifferent. He said that when these issues were raised in the Assembly, the Home Minister failed to respond and dismissed the questions as irrelevant. Referring to the murder of a seven-year-old girl in Madanapalle, he questioned what action the government has taken and accused, both the Home Minister and the state leadership of turning a blind eye. He criticized CM Chandrababu for claiming to curb rowdyism while allowing controversial figures to sit alongside them in the Assembly, and that individuals linked to inappropriate remarks and crimes against women continue to enjoy protection. He further claimed that criminals evade cases by routing cash through intermediaries to influential leaders.

Chandrasekhar criticised the government for inaction when children are harmed and said ruling party leaders feel threatened even by a small number of opposition MLAs. He stated that for money, the coalition govt is compromising on everything, citing liquor sales near Kotappakonda even in the presence of police, and police action against YSRCP workers who organized events. He said power supply was also obstructed to suppress opposition activities and warned that authoritarian methods will not last.

He also stated that Chandrababu Naidu drew salaries without attending the Assembly when in opposition and that attempts to seek details were met with intimidation.

On the Tirumala ghee issue, he said that Indapur Dairy is linked to Heritage and that it participated in TTD ghee tenders during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure. He stated Indapur was blacklisted in 2016 but removed from the blacklist within six months under Chandrababu’s directions and later secured contracts at Rs. 321 per kg. He questioned how the same supplier’s price rose to Rs. 658 per kg in 2025 while Chandrababu accused others of animal fat in laddus. He stated that this reflects misuse of temple funds and large-scale profiteering. He said that when YSRCP raised these issues in the Legislative Council and presented evidence of links between Indapur and Heritage, the House was adjourned.

He also countered claims by TDP leaders about certain chemical terms being linked to toilet cleaners, arguing that if such interpretations are applied, questions would arise about Heritage products too. He further stated that Heritage products have faced regulatory issues in other states, questioning how ghee made from adulterated milk and curd could be pure. He criticized the practice of applying ghee coatings on laddus for aroma and questioned why separate tenders are needed just to enhance fragrance. He concluded that the government must answer these questions and stop exploiting faith and public institutions for private and political interests.
