NMC allocation of 60 PG Seats exposes Naidu’s False Campaign

Srikakulam, 19 October 2025: Former Minister and YSRCP Doctors Wing President Dr. Seediri Appalaraju strongly criticized the coalition government for misleading people with false propaganda claiming that former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not construct any government medical colleges. Addressing the media at the YSR Congress Party office in Srikakulam, he said the National Medical Council (NMC) has officially sanctioned 60 Postgraduate (PG) medical seats to the newly established government medical colleges built under YS Jagan’s tenure — a clear testimony that the colleges are fully functional with infrastructure and faculty.
“NMC has granted 16 PG seats each to Rajahmundry and Nandyal, 12 each to Vizianagaram and Machilipatnam, and 4 seats to Eluru. If no medical colleges were built as claimed by Chandrababu Naidu and his ministers, why would NMC allocate PG seats?” he asked. He condemned the TDP-JSP-BJP coalition for using old photos and friendly media to run a malicious campaign to undermine YS Jagan’s historic achievement of establishing 17 government medical colleges.
Dr. Appalaraju warned that the coalition government is now trying to hand over these public medical colleges to private corporates under the guise of privatization only because they are a symbol of YS Jagan’s vision for affordable medical education and healthcare for the poor. He accused Chandrababu Naidu of mortgaging state interests for corporate gains, citing examples like the Rs. 22,000 crore incentives to Adani-Google Data Center, and the Rs. 72,640 crore incentives to BPCL for the petrochemical project while denying funds for public institutions.
He demanded the government withdraw the PPP privatization plan for medical colleges immediately and apply for NMC notification this academic year. He also appealed to people to support the YSRCP’s One Crore Signatures Campaign against medical college privatization.
He said, “This government has money for publicity and private malls like Lulu but no funds for medical colleges that serve the poor. We will continue to expose their anti-people policies.”
