Kin of Freedom Fighters Hail CM For Recognition     

 Amaravati: The kin of the freedom fighters who were honoured on the occasion of the State Formation Day had expressed their gratitude and happiness on being felicitated and recalled their memories of their elders who took part in the freedom struggle.

The granddaughters of Potti Sriramulu, Prof T. Revathy is the daughter of NR Guptha and Anantha Lakshmi said that they distinctly remember their grandfather and his association with Mahatma Gandhi. Lakshmi said that she is from Saipeta village of Kavali constituency. NR Guptha is a nephew of Potti Sriramulu. NR Guptha and Anantha Lakshmi, parents or Revathy are also freedom fighters and participated in hunger strike along with Potti Sriramulu. " Till now we are recognised only in district level. We are very happy with the decision of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to felicitate the family members of freedom fighters. We feel very honoured" she said.

Pingali Susheela, wife of Pingali Dasaradharam who is grandson of Pingali Venkaiah who designed the national flag was honoured on the occasion. She lives in Vijayawada. Pingali Venkaiah lived in Yarlagadda and used to teach karrasamu and other forms of martial arts to students in Yarlagadda. " It is a great pleasure to us to be part of this event today. We request Chief Minister to establish a statue of Pingali Venkaiah in assembly and also to incorporate his life story of Pingali Venkaiah in textbooks. No one recognised Venkaiah family and it's good this government has taken such a good decision’, she said.

The kin of Alluri Sitarama Raju also said that they felt great for the recognition. Sri Rama Raju,son of Satyanarayana Raju who is the brother of Alluri Sita Rama Raju was felicitated.

He lives in Rajhmundry and retired from DRDL. Rama Raju's father Satyanarayana Raju is close associate of Alluri Sita Rama Raju. Alluri Sita Rama Raju taught education to son of Chitikela Bhaskar and Rama Raju father Satyanarayana Raju while Alluri is in dense forests (manyam). " Though he is very young, the Chief Minister has taken a good initiative to felicitate the family members of freedom fighters none had called us till now for felicitation and it's a great privilege today" Rama Raju said.
