*Farmers in dire straits*

Tadepalli, May 7: YSRCP has reiterated that agriculture in the State is in dire straits and that maize farmers are bearing the brunt.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Party General Secretary MVS Nagi Reddy said that maize farmers are losing about Rs 3,000 crore due to the faulty policies of the coalition government.
While the MSP for maize is Rs 2,400, farmers are not even getting Rs 1,600, and Chandrababu has been writing letters to the Centre to bear the difference, though there is no such precedent.
Whether it is the Centre or the State, farmers should get the amount, and the coalition government should bring in MARKFED to procure the produce, he said.
Chandrababu has raised a Rs 13,583 crore loan through MARKFED in the name of farmers, and there is no accountability.
The government should answer where the amount went, he said, adding that during Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's government, farmers were happy and received MSP for all crops.
