Eluru: Flood waters at Polavaram are beginning to recede, according Andhra Pradesh minister in charge of West Godavari district, Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose. His cabinet colleagues, Alla Nani and Thaneti Vanita held a review of the flood situation along with senior officials of the district. Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose stated that 19 vulnerable villages had been provided with essential supplies for three months. He also stated that two villages found themselves cut off from regular power supply and that efforts were on to restore electricity at the earliest. Water level of the Godavari near the coffer dam stood currently at 26 metres, but it was not under any threat, he said. By tomorrow, flood water levels would ebb completely, he added.
Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose also revealed that health camps and temporary rehabilitation centres had been set up in flood-prone villages. Moreover, doctors, policie officials and revenue authorities were accessible to all villagers for ready assistance, he said.
Later, Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose and his cabinet colleagues went to interact with the flood victims of Kondrukota in a special launch.
