New Delhi: Welcoming the Centre's decision to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, YSRCP MP Kanumuru Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju in Lok Sabha said decades’ old dream of people of Kashmir was finally fulfilled with the abrogation of Article 370.
Exuding confidence that development would finally reach the Valley, he said it was good to have only one flag for the whole of the country, rather than Kashmir having a separate flag of its own. The Centre's decision was a step in the direction of national integration.
Extending YSRCP's complete support to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, he lavished praised on the Centre pointing out that it had met the aspirations of people of the border state.
YSRCP along with BSP, BJD, TDP, TRS, Shiv Sena are among the Opposition parties that extended support to the BJP government's decision to bifurcate the State of Jammu and Kashmir, and to downgrade its status to union territories. On Monday, YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy spoke in favour of the legislations moved the Centre pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.
Ending the days of uncertainty, Union Home Minister Amit Shah finally bit the Kashmir bullet on Monday by rescinding the contentious Article 370 and as corollary Article 35A. While BJP and the above-mentioned parties hailed the decision, Congress, TMC, DMK are among those who accused the BJP having bludgeoned its way to decide on the fate of Kashmir unilaterally.
