“TDP has turned into Telugu Dandupalyam Party” – Varudu Kalyani

Visakhapatnam, Nov 27: YSRCP Mahila Wing State President and MLC Varudu Kalyani expressed severe anger over the collapse of women’s safety under the coalition government, stating that the TDP has now turned into a Telugu Dandupalyam Party. Speaking at the YSRCP office in Visakhapatnam, she condemned the shocking incident in which Minister Sandhya Rani’s PA sexually harassed a government woman employee, extorted money in the name of providing a job, and even pressured her to “come close” to TDP leaders. Despite filing police complaints, no action was taken. When the victim approached the minister seeking justice, she was punished with a transfer to a remote area instead of being protected.
Kalyani said it is disgraceful that Minister Sandhya Rani defended her PA instead of standing by the victim, questioning whether she is the Minister for Women & Child Welfare or the Minister for Harassing Women. She demanded the immediate arrest of PA Satish and the removal of Sandhya Rani from the cabinet for shielding the accused. She pointed out that after the coalition assumed power, women’s safety deteriorated drastically, with 70–80 crimes against women being reported daily, 3–4 incidents every hour, and sharp rises in rape cases, drug abuse, ganja trade, and alcohol consumption.
Calling out Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s hypocrisy, Kalyani said that the CM who claims that anyone harming a woman would face “their last day” is silent when his own minister’s PA is accused of harassment. She questioned Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan as well, asking when he would act against his colleague’s PA. She criticised Minister Lokesh for failing to respond even after the victim directly approached him, and condemned the Home Minister for taking no action despite a government employee pleading for protection.
Kalyani said the coalition government has failed to implement even basic measures for women’s safety. In contrast, under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government, the Disha App protected over 1.3 crore women, supported by strict policing, monthly reviews, and strong enforcement. The coalition merely copied it as the Shakti App, which is meaningless if ministers and police ignore direct complaints. She said this case exposes the complete moral collapse of the ruling alliance.
Varudu Kalyani affirmed that the YSRCP stands firmly with the victim and reiterated her demands for the arrest of PA Satish, action against the police officials who ignored her complaint, and the ouster of Minister Sandhya Rani from the cabinet.
