Ranga murder: Role of Chandrababu

The murder of Vijayawada leader Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, popularly known as Ranga, two-and-a-half decades ago was done at the behest of Chandrababu Naidu, according to a new revelation made by senior politician and Ex Ministeer Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah. In his autobiographical account "My 60 Years of Political Journey" released on Sunday at Palakollu in West Godavari district, Jogaiah made this sensational revelation.

The politician says: Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga who belonged to Kapu community was a strong leader in Vijayawada from Congress party at that time. It was during the Telugu Desam Party rule after NT Rama Rao was re-elected as chief minister, some TDP leaders approached NTR and asked his permission for eliminating Ranga saying if he lives, the TDP won't have political future in the area. NTR rejected their proposal saying he will never indulge in murder politics.

However, a TDP leader who was an MLA from Vijayawada (name not mentioned in the book), a railway trade union leader Prabhakara Raju and others then approached Chandrababu Naidu and Upendra who both encouraged them to go ahead with their plans to kill Ranga, the then Congress MLA from Vijayawada. The news came to me through my close friend and then MLA from Attili Dandu Sivarama Raju. Then I heard the tragic news of Ranga's daylight murder within a week.

After the formal release of his book, Jogaiah confirmed to reporters that what he wrote was complete truth and he will standby all his claims in the book.
