Now, 'Green Scam' Hits AP Capital Amaravati

After land scam that forced many farmers lost their livelihoods in the new capital Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh,  'Green Scam' has come as another big blow to AP government.  Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earmarked Rs 10 lakh to grow a single tree in the capital. In all, government allocated Rs 5 crore to nurture 3970 trees in Amaravati under Green project.

The Amaravati Development Corporation had already gave its approval for the green project under which lakhs of rupees will be spent on buying some exotic trees.  For instance,  Rs  7.80 lakh is being spent on buying an Olive tree.

Even the ruling party leaders also baffled after seeing the quotations fixed by the corporation to buy the trees at exorbitant prices. They also questioned the government for spending huge money without the completion of construction of the capital city.  The government has prepared many plans to build the capital projecting the city will be the Bahubali of all other capitals but no permanent construction was taken place for the last four years.

The Chandrababu government was already stuck in neck deep crisis with the series of scams including power purchase at higher price,  endowment land encroachments etc. The fresh episode of green scam will be another big blot on the face of Chandrababu.
