New AP Capital At Krishna Offshore Is A Big Environmental Challenge

The construction of new capital - Amaravati at the famous river Krishna offshore by the Andhra Pradesh government raised serious environmental concerns.   Several agencies including World Bank and senior most bureaucrats already made hue and cry on the construction of huge buildings on the river shores stating that it will create environmental problems in the future. 

Despite the central and other environmental agencies warned, government constructed a palatial residence in the periphery of Krishna river zone causing the damage of flora and fauna and also affected the utilisation of river water for irrigation and drinking water needs in the future. 

The experts warned that the indiscriminate construction of buildings along Krishna will be a big threat to the surrounding areas as they will submerge during heavy rains. 

The promotion of huge construction activity in Chennai resulted submergnce of many areas in the Metropolitan city when it received huge floods.

Throwing the prescribed environmental norms to the winds, Chandrababu Naidu promote real estate in Amaravathi by acquiring vast tracts of lands from the farmers. The government also set aside the  warning issued by National Green Tribunal on the construction of the capital city.  YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been demanding the state government to construct capital in a submergnce free area and also decentralise the administration.
