Illegal constructions face obstacle with YSRCP MLA’s intervention

  • Residence of CM shown under ‘Gramakantam’
  • YSRCP MLA RK’s initiative
  • Attempts to change master plan in view of masking felony
  •  Permission from officials of irrigation department is mandatory to even plant a sapling on the river bed or near the bund of Krishna River. In such an area, certain big shots managed to build huge constructions without seeking permission. At first Telugu Desam party leaders condemned constructing on the river bed, but chose silence upon knowing about the residence of the CM himself. Later, Tahsildar of Tadepalli issued notices on the 6th of February 2015 to 22 different constructions including the CM’s residence.

Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy filed a PIL on Monday at the High Court against the illegal constructions on the river bed of Krishna and the residence of the CM. Following this, CRDA higher officials went on to inspect these constructions two days back.

A report was submitted to the Government stating that all these constructions were illegal. In the final master plan of the capital city Amaravathi released on the 24th of last month, constructions belonging to certain Government veterans including the residence of CM Chandrababu were mapped to be under the R1 ‘Gramakantam’.

In light of the MLA’s petition to the High Court, the constructions between the bund and Krishna River were found to be against RC act. Hence, on Wednesday, CRDA released a new map reclassifying these constructions to be under P2 (active recreation zone) and S2 (education zone) from R1 (Gramakantam) along with related notification. Given the incident, people expressed their displeasure at the ruling party leaders for working for the benefit of big shots rather than for them. If not for the petition, CM’s residence would have enjoyed the status of classification as ‘Gramakantam’.
