Fate Of Polavaram Project Hans In Balance, Centre Stops Funding To AP

The fate of the Polaravam project, considered as lifeline to Andhra Pradesh, is hanging in balance as the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Nadu's government had allegedly misused the funds released by the government and also inflated the estimation of the project without any scientific study. Serious on it, the centre stopped funding to the project.
The recent survey conducted by SA Masood Hussain Committee had found that AP government increased the project estimations to Rs 58,000 crore and the misappropriation of funds given . State government had failed to submit utilisation certificate for Rs 3,370 crore to the centre.
The report also made it clear that government committed irregularities in finalizing the tenders for the polavaram works.The committee had come to a conclusion that the project will not complete before the deadline -March 2018 set by the AP government.Centre also found anomalies in the project designs and suggested some changes recently. The Centre already lost faith in AP government as the latter did nor fulfill the benchmark set for the completion of Polavaram.
