YSRCP demands TDP stand on no trust move

Press Release

Hyderabad, February 8, 2013: YSR Congress has demanded the main opposition TDP to be categorical about its stand on moving the no confidence motion against the State Government instead of treading the ambiguous path by evading a direct reply on the issue.

“Naidu has been skirting the issue on flimsy grounds and has been maintaining double standards by criticising the government on one hand and asking other parties as to why don’t you move the no trust move. As TDP is the main opposition party and has numbers in a single block, unlike other parties, it is the bounden duty of TDP to demand the Government to prove its majority,” party MLA G Srikanth Reddy told reporters here on Friday.

Chandrababu Naidu maintaining that he will move the no trust motion at an appropriate time has lost its meaning with his reluctance to act even after the Congress President himself has announced that nine MLAs are expelled from the party.

“The TDP leader can openly tell that he has no intention to move the no trust vote as he has an understanding with Congress instead of asking us to move the motion. We do not have enough numbers and TDP is a single block which has the required numbers,” he said.

Taking objection to the TDP leader resorting to personal attacks, he said, such unruly behavior only speaks of the bankruptcy of political ideology. “He has been targeting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family members during the padayatra instead of highlighting the failures of the State government.”

Chandrababu Naidu talking about waiver of loans has no meaning as he was never serious on farmers’ issues while he was in power for nine years.

Training his guns on Congress, Srikanth Reddy said, the ruling party has been blowing its own trumpet on success of the heavily rigged cooperative polls which were held on non-party basis. “The results do not reflect the mandate of people and it will be known only in direct elections. We throw the gauntlet to Congress to face party-based elections which will be a measure of people’s mandate,” he said.

While farmers are pushed to a tight corner with the steep increase in fertilizer rates, high power tariff and heavy power cuts, Congress claiming that it has full support of farmers is absurd, he said.

On the allegations against Sharmila by TDP leaders, he said, “they can stoop to such low levels to hurl baseless allegations against a person getting immense popularity and we cannot reach their level to hit back or answer them.”

He also preferred not to comment on BJP’s charges as “the strings are being pulled by someone else. After our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that he will not have any tie-up with communal parties, BJP is being used by some vested interests and old allies to level false charges against YSR family members,” he said.

TDP has the history of sailing with BJP and we made it clear that we are secular in character and in spirit. The charges being leveled by BJP leaders have no basis and do not merit an explanation, he said.
