YSRCP concern over EAMCET counselling: July 30 - 2012

Hyderabad, July 30: YSRCP has demanded the State Government to specifically announce the EAMCET 2012 counslling dates as nearly 3 lakh students are likley to lose one acedemic year.

“It seems the Kiran Kumar Reddy government is more inclined in exploring ways to evade fees reimbusement scheme than looking after the welfare of students. This is evident from the fact  that the State’s indecisiveness on the EAMCET counselling  ,” party spokesperson, Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Monday.

Taking refuge under the Supreme Court interim order, the State is trying is threaten some colleges, in the name of standards, of closure if they rake up the fees reimbusement issue.

In the first place, the State could not convince the Court about the fees structure for general and mangement quota seats and is using the interim order to blackmail colleges to keep silent on fees reimbursement issue.

“The state has failed to stick to the acedemic calender and is unable to hold counselling for first year students. Due to the delay in admissions, the pass percentage in first year has been about 40 per cent and this time it may come down further,” she said.

When an issue comes up, the State should take steps to resolve it amicably through dialogue and other process of negotiation instead of toeing the path of confrontation, she said.

“The State should anounce the counselling dates immediately and try to resolve the fees reimbusement issue amicably,” she said. (EOM)
