State should apologise to YS Jagan, says Jupudi: July 12

Hyderabad, July 12: YSRCP has demanded an unconditional apology from the State Government for not submitting its report to the High Court and now trying to own up the 26 contentious GOs there by hinting that there was no quid pro quo.

“The State has failed to submit its report to the High Court when the case was first filed which is on record and Chief Minister trying to tell that they have reacted is a blatant lie for which we demand an unconditional apology,” party spokesperson Jupudi Prabhakar Rao told reporters here on Thursday.

Appointing a legal advisor to the ministers who were slapped notices by the Supreme Court suggests that the Government was defending the GOs and there was no case of quid pro quo. “If this is the stand of the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, his family members and associates  were being harassed for the past one year with CBI investigating the issue and framing charges that would be contrary to what the government has to say,” he pointed out.

Should the State contend that there is no quid pro quo in the GOs case, the harassment YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family members went through all these days is for nothing and the Government has to tender an unconditional apology, he said.

“As we cannot undo the damage done to YSR family, the ruling Congress and opposition TDP should speak out clearly. If the Government tries to own up the GOs, there is no quid pro quo case and when there is no case, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family had suffered for no reason and someone in the Government should take responsibility for the entire episode,” he said.

While the High Court pointed out in its order that the State Government has not given any records in the 26 GOs case, the Chief Minister speaking otherwise could attract penal provision of the law. He should come out in the open and tell the truth that the State did not respond, though the Chief Secretary, ministers and senior bureaucrats were made party to the case.

This resulted in the High Court issuing an ex-parte judgment and CBI started its investigation in its own inimitable style targeting YS Jagan. Only when the Supreme Court has stepped in and issued notices to the concerned ministers did the State, in a knee-jerk reaction, appointed lawyers and wanted to spell out its stand on the GOs and gave enough signals that it will own up the decision of issuing the Orders and arguing that the cabinet decision is a collective responsibility and was done in the interest of general public and economic growth.

The double standards will come to the fore in due course of time, but why should YSR family members suffer for the unrealistic moves of the State, he said.
