YSR Congress Party on Friday flayed the State Government for the proposed hike in power charges to net Rs 4,000 crores and demanded a roll back of power prices.
“The State Government has given a sore gift on Ugadi by increasing power tariff. Close on the heels of losing seven by-elections, this decision will further distance Congress party away from the people,” YSRC spokesperson, Vasireddy Padma told reporters here.
With the main opposition TDP playing second fiddle to the ruling Congress, “we will continue to raise public issues,” she said.
The State proposes to raise Rs 9,000 crores from domestic sector by increasing the fare from 50 paise to one rupee for consumers using 50 units and more and net RS 3,100 crores from commercial sector.
At a time when farmers and general people are unable to bear the burden of rising prices, this dose comes as an additional burden, she said and demanded immediate roll back of the prices.
The people have already vented their anger on the state government in the by-elections and the Congress, instead of making amends to its policies is going against the people’s wish, she said.
Sharply reacting to TDP remarks that Jagan’s assurance of a corrupt-free governance, she said, “TDP has no right to speak of a clean governance as N Chandrababu Naidu’s nine-year term was filled with corruption the allegations of red sanders smuggling have come on the chief minister.
“It is only YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who has the moral right to speak of corruption-free governance as the Congress and TDP have lost the chance and have no guts to speak on the subject,” she said.
