CBI is puppet in Govt hands, YSRCP

Press Release

Hyderabad, March 21, 2013: Our stand that CBI and other law enforcing agencies are working at the behest of the Central government is vindicated with the raids on MK Stalin’s residence in Tamil Nadu, YSR Congress has said.

“We have been telling time and again that CBI, ED, IB and other institutions are being misused to settle political scores by the UPA has come in the open with CBI raids being stalled after the interference of Prime Minister and other ministers,” the party PAC member DA Somayajulu told reporters here on Thursday.

Close on the heels of DMK pulling out from the UPA government CBI searches at 19 places, including the party leader Stalin’s house, have been vindictive. The sudden u-turn by CBI after the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh  and union ministers P Chidambaram, Kapil Sibbal and Kamalnath reacted sharply to the CBI act proves the point resolutely that the premier investigation agency is working at the behest of  the Central Government, he said.

More than the raids, coming soon after the withdrawal of the support, the retreat of CBI proves that it is working under the direct control of the Government and it has no autonomy of any kind.

“It is not just YSR Congress party that has said this but every non-Congress party had earlier said that CBI is being used as a tool taking political vendetta against the adversaries. In YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s case, we have been categorically telling that his arrest was undemocratic and he is being held in jail for over 10 months without trial only to please the political bosses,” he said.

CBI has given a highly inflated figure of Rs 43,000 crore misappropriation and brought it down to Rs 900 crores which shows that there is no substance and material evidence in the case of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, yet he is kept away from people on the false and perceived premise that he will influence witnesses fearing that Congress and TDP will be washed away in the by-eletions.

Six minister and eight IAS officers have told the apex court there was no mala fide intentions while issuing the 26 GOs and no rules were flouted which means that there is no case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Yet he is kept in jail and the concerned ministers keep telling that CBI is an autonomous body and it is not under the control of any ministry.

This bluff has been called with CBI stopping the raids on Stalin when the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues reacted to the raids and termed them as unfortunate and even questioned the timing of the raids, he said.

We strongly believe that ED issuing attachment notices to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies hours after TDP leaders meeting Finance Minister, P Chidambaran is not mere coincidence. Both Congress and TDP have ganged up in the State to fight against YSRCP and are trying hard for their survival, he said.

The popularity of YSRCP has been growing despite the best efforts of Congress and TDP put together for tarnishing the image of YSR family members. TDP has been resorting to propaganda against Brother Anil Kumar and trying to drag him into unwarranted controversies as Sharmila padayatra has been evoking tremendous response, he said.
