People rallied round the YSR Congress party on Wednesday in expressing their ire against the hike in RTC bus charges.
Backed by the solidarity of the people, YSRCP leaders and activists expressed their strong opposition to the hike in RTC bus fares by staging dharnas at the Collectors’ offices across the state.
Hundreds of party activists gathered at the offices of district collectors in Kadapa, Anantapuram, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Chittor, Kurnool and several other towns raising slogans against the Government’s decision and demanding withdrawal of the hike.
YSR Congress activists and leaders laid a siege to the Ranga Reddy Collector’s office in Hyderabad. Party leaders Rehman and Vijya Reddy led the dharna and submitted a memorandum to the Collector demanding the withdrawal of hike in fares.
While party MP Mekapati Raja Mohana Reddy has lead hundreds of activists at the dharna in Nellore, Rayachoti YSR Congress MLA Srikanth Reddy and other leaders led the Dharna in Kadapa. The leaders asked the authorities to withdraw the hike without delay and warned of a severe agitation in case the hike is not reversed.
Addressing the participants in Kadapa, Srikanth Reddy charged the opposition TDP playing a spectator role and abdicating its responsibility of fighting against hike in bus charges.
