YSRCP sounds war bugle against TDP Govt

Hyderabad: Continuing its efforts aimed at building pressure on the AP legislative Assembly speaker, the YSRCP, led by its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has decided to stage a sit-in near the AP Assembly on Monday.

A decision to this effect was taken at the YSRCLP meet held at the Lotus Pond on Monday morning. The protests will continue for the coming five days when the sessions are held.

The YSRCP will also organize a bus yatra to Pattiseema, Polavaram and Pothyreddypadu projects from March 26. On Tuesday, a mock-assembly would be held in Hyderabad.

The party MLAs will also hold a mock assembly on Monday. “We tried to highlight the woes of the farmers on the floor of the Assembly. But, the speaker had cut the mike and refused to heed to our appeals for being allowed to speak. Hence we decided to boycott the session. We felt that we would not be given an opportunity inside the assembly to give voice to the woes of the people. So, we have decided to go out into the people and inform them of the wrongdoings of the Government,” party senior leader Jyothula Nehru said.

Immediately after the meeting, the YSRCP MLAs marched towards the assembly to stage a protest. YSRCP MLAs said that the struggle would continue till the speaker sees reason.

“We have taken this decision as the Government is muzzling our voice. Hence we have decided to go to the people to highlight the challenges like the Polavaram project, Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Pothireddypadu Head regulator. We shall take out a bus yatra from Thursday with all the 67 party MLAs to visit all these sites and to sensitise the people,” said party senior leader Jyothula Nehru.

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasad Reddy is behaving in the most partisan manner and has become a tool in the hands of the ruling party. Hence the party has decided to move a no confidence motion against the speaker, the YSRCP leaders said.
